Area Manager – Natural Gas Operations in Ehrenberg, AZ or Reno, NV Full Time / Direct Placement On-Site Approximately 40% Travel Domestic relocation only; no cross-border relocation We're looking for an experienced Area Manager to provide hands-on leadership for natural gas operations across our clients Pacific Mountain Region. This is an opportunity for a proven operations leader who understands safety, field operations, natural gas transmission/storage, project management, and technical processes and enjoys developing teams while staying connected to field operations. You'll oversee the continuous operation, maintenance, and improvement of your assigned area while leading employees represented by IBEW Local Union #77. Depending on the location of the successful candidate, this position may be filled in Ehrenberg, AZ or Reno, NV.
What you'll do:
Champion safety excellence and provide active field leadership across operating locations Lead, coach, mentor, and develop employees while building an engaged, high-performing team Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable for operational and safety results Oversee operations and maintenance activities to support safe and reliable facility performance Ensure compliance with operational policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and established safety practices Support the planning, administration, and management of capital and operating budgets Conduct regular self-audits of critical processes, including JSA, LOTO, and work permits Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence Build strong partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders Foster an inclusive work environment that encourages communication, engagement, innovation, and feedback Maintain required ICS training and be prepared to serve as Incident Commander during emergency response situations Participate in on-call responsibilities and respond to emergency situations when required
What we're looking for:
Associate degree, bachelor's degree, or technical diploma in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent training and experience may be considered 5+ years of related experience, preferably with management or leadership responsibilities Energy industry experience, particularly natural gas transmission/storage operations, strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, engage, and develop teams Strong safety leadership and the ability to manage work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner Experience leading diverse work groups and creating an inclusive, collaborative environment Strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple levels of an organization Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing operational requirements Sound business judgment with the ability to evaluate risk, cost, benefits, and operational considerations Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Teams, and related applications Ability to travel approximately 40% to operating locations This role is a strong fit for an operations leader who wants to stay connected to the field while developing people, improving operational performance, and building a strong safety culture.
