About the role

SUMMARY: KUKA U.S. is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to serve as the Director of U.S. Government Affairs at Washington D.C. In this role, you will represent KUKA U.S.’s interests in government affairs at a federal and state level, focusing on national security, trade policy, and other key regulatory issues relevant to KUKA U.S.’s businesses. While aligning with the company’s business strategy, you will be responsible for managing and enhancing the organization’s relationship with government agencies, legislators, and other stakeholders to advance KUKA U.S.’s position in the United States.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Represent KUKA U.S.’s interests in public and government affairs, engaging with policymakers and regulatory bodies on a federal and state level on national security, trade policy and other regulatory topics Promote KUKA U.S.’s interests in all U.S. government affairs and regulatory matters Develop and maintain strong relationships with key government officials, industry stakeholders, and advocacy groups to support KUKA U.S.’s strategic objectives Monitor and analyze developments in U.S. national security, trade policy, and other key regulatory areas that may impact KUKA’s U.S. business operations and provide regular updates and recommendations Collaborate with cross-functional teams within KUKA U.S. to align government affairs developments with strategic business goals Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and briefings to internal stakeholders on relevant public policy issues Ensure compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) through accurate registration and timely filing of required reports Coordinate with KUKA U.S.’s Corporate Affairs & Legal team to align on national security, international trade, and other regulatory matters Serve as the primary external contact for U.S. government-related inquiries and communicationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in public policy, law, or economics strongly preferred Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in government affairs, with a focus on national security, trade policy, and other regulatory matters, preferably in automation, robotics, software & AI, or related technology sectors In-depth knowledge of the U.S. political landscape and the federal and state policymaking processes Experience working with Capitol Hill, Treasury, Commerce, DoW, and/or CBP preferred Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key government and industry stakeholders Established network of relationships within the federal government, Capitol Hill and/or the government and legislature of Michigan and/or Ohio strongly preferred Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills Strong project management skills with ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and competing priorities Ability to travel approximately 30%KUKA is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce.
