About the role

Associate Director, Energy Providers PracticeGuidehouse's Commercial Strategy team within our Energy Providers practice are looking for an Associate Director to join our team. Your work will focus on supporting the leadership of electric and gas utilities as they look to solve their highest priority challenges, predominantly in and around new commercial and operating models to navigate the changing energy landscape. You will be the project lead on engagements serving clients operating in the US as they grapple with the complex energy transformation journey. This Associate Director role requires a knowledge of the utilities/energy industry with demonstrated problem-solving and relevant strategy consulting skills.Key Client Responsibilities:Understand your client's business challenges as they look to complete the energy transitionOwn and develop client relationships within the utilities industry and adjacent industriesSupport the strategy, design, and delivery of project workstreamsCoordinate and facilitate meetings with clients and their stakeholdersPrepare and communicate solutions through well-organized, effective reports and presentations to clientsEngage in the business development process with the ability to deliver documentation and requests for proposalsKey Project Lead Responsibilities:Lead and manage day-to-day internal team across multiple workstreamsFoster feedback culture through coaching and mentoring others on the project team to ensure quality analysis and deliverablesProvide input to project directors and partners in an open and collaborative environment to help guide project delivery on a technical and strategic levelDemonstrate strong facilitation skills through the leading of workshops with an ability to communicate complex information comfortably and clearlyUnderstand and develop key strategy storylines throughout the lifecycle of project engagementsDevelop business models utilizing numerous inputs to complete the analysis of multiple scenariosDemonstrate a refined understanding of organizational structures and have experience overseeing the development of target operating modelsComplete detailed and thorough strategy roadmaps that ensure effective and efficient implementationIdentify and understand how macro trends, competition, and regulatory environments influence strategy development for utilitiesWhat You Will Need:Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagementBachelor's degree in an engineering, business, economics, environmental, science or related discipline AND Seven (7+) plus years of relevant post-graduation industry or consulting experience; Or Master's degree in an engineering, business, economics, environmental, science or related discipline AND Five (5+) plus years of relevant post-graduation industry or consulting experienceStrategy background from an equivalent consulting firm with a preference in the utilities industryDeep understanding of business and project management fundamentalsProven business development experience, with a track record of selling and delivering work within the utilities or energy industryAdvanced experience creating and developing business and financial models in Microsoft ExcelAdvanced experience in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint, with comfort leveraging AI-tools to enhance workflowProven problem-solving skills with ability to quickly process complex information and present it clearly and simplyAbility to manage several tasks simultaneously and deliver against tight deadlines in fast-paced and demanding environmentsExperience in developing and delivering presentations to executive audiencesTrack record of leading and managing teams effectivelyExemplary verbal and written communication skillsHighly developed organizational and management skillsAn inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvementTireless attention to detail in all prior experience (academic and professional)Ability to travel weekly as requiredAbility to work onsite in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location 1-3 days per weekWhat Would Be Nice To Have:Preference will be given to candidates residing within 50 miles of a Guidehouse Office listed in the postingAdvanced degreeExperience working at the convergence with energy industry - e.g., automotive or technologyThe annual salary range for this position is $149,000.00-$248,000.00.
