About the role

Position Title: Boatyard Rigger & Running Gear Technician Join a specialized yacht service operation where craftsmanship matters more than rushing through the next job. This hands‑on role is responsible for hauling and safely blocking vessels, removing and installing running gear, performing shaft and engine alignment, servicing marine stabilizer systems, and completing detailed repairs on yachts typically ranging from 30 to 75 feet. You’ll work across multiple projects while having meaningful ownership of each job from disassembly through reassembly and final alignment. The ideal candidate is an experienced marine or boatyard professional with strong travel‑lift and running‑gear expertise, proven technical ability, and a reputation for doing quality work the right way.
Pay Range: $25 - $30 / hour, DOE
Responsibilities: Operate a travel lift to safely haul, position, block, and support vessels Remove, install, inspect, and service propellers, shafts, rudders, struts, supports, and couplers Perform engine and shaft alignment and work with packing glands and dripless shaft and rudder seals Perform maintenance and service on marine stabilizer systems Manage multiple vessel projects as components move through repair, machining, and reassembly stages Identify required parts and specifications and communicate accurate information to the parts team for ordering Document work orders, upload photos, and record job notes through the company’s boatyard application Maintain high standards of safety, workmanship, and attention to detail throughout each project
Requirements: Demonstrated hands‑on experience in a marine, yacht yard, commercial shipyard, or boatyard environment Strong travel‑lift experience with the ability to safely haul vessels and place them on blocks and stands Hands‑on experience removing and installing marine running gear, including shafts, rudders, propellers, struts, supports, and couplers Working knowledge of packing glands, dripless shaft and rudder seals, engine and shaft alignment, and marine stabilizer systems Ability to confidently troubleshoot technical issues and demonstrate practical knowledge in a working boatyard environment Comfortable performing physically demanding work outdoors in Florida weather conditions Basic personal hand tools, with specialized rigging and running‑gear tools provided Strong reliability, attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to long‑term career stability
