About the role

Estimator / Senior Estimator Data Centers | Semiconductor | Advanced Manufacturing We are partnering with a general contractor seeking an Estimator / Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating for complex, technically demanding projects. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys shaping a project from the earliest concept—working with clients and design teams, developing budgets with limited information, and helping turn an opportunity into a negotiated design-build contract.
The Opportunity: You will own the estimating process from initial pursuit and conceptual budgeting through design development, final pricing, and turnover to operations. The role combines detailed estimating with client interaction, project strategy, and support for winning work. We are looking for someone comfortable in data center, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing environments, with the judgment to identify what is known, what is missing, and what needs to be carried in an early budget.
Key Responsibilities: Lead cradle-to-grave estimating and preconstruction for negotiated and design-build projects. Develop conceptual, schematic, design-development, and construction-document estimates. Build credible early budgets using historical costs, benchmarks, preliminary narratives, and incomplete drawings. Clearly communicate scope assumptions, exclusions, allowances, contingencies, and project risks. Partner with owners, architects, engineers, and operations teams to align scope, budget, schedule, and execution strategy. Evaluate constructability, design alternatives, value engineering, long-lead equipment, and procurement options. Develop bid packages, solicit trade partners, level proposals, and resolve scope gaps and overlaps. Coordinate architectural, structural, civil, and MEP estimates, with particular attention to complex building systems and infrastructure. Support business development through client meetings, interviews, proposal presentations, and budget discussions. Help secure negotiated work by explaining pricing, presenting options, and building client confidence. Deliver a thorough turnover to operations, including estimate details, scope commitments, procurement priorities, and identified risks. Maintain cost data and incorporate field feedback to improve future estimates.
What We’re Looking For: General contractor estimating or preconstruction experience on complex commercial or industrial projects. Relevant experience in data centers, semiconductor facilities, or advanced manufacturing; experience across all three is welcome but not required. Ability to develop conceptual estimates before the design is fully defined. Experience with negotiated contracts and design-build delivery. Strong understanding of trade scopes, construction sequencing, and MEP-intensive facilities. Confidence working directly with clients and presenting budgets, recommendations, and tradeoffs. Commercial awareness and an interest in helping win the right projects. Strong organization, attention to detail, and ownership of deadlines. Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software, Excel, and drawing-review tools. A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience is valued.
Who Will Do Well Here: Someone who can move comfortably between a detailed estimate and a client conversation. You enjoy solving problems early, asking good questions, and helping a team turn an evolving concept into a buildable, competitively priced project. Interested? Reach out for a confidential conversation about the company, project pipeline, and opportunity.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
