JOB TITLEHyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI)'s Regulation & Certification Department is currently seeking an Emissions and OBD Compliance Manager for our team at the Chino facility in California. HATCI's Emissions and OBD Compliance Team helps support Hyundai and Kia vehicles in meeting the challenging environmental and emissions standards at the federal and state levels, through certification and in-use testing. The Emissions and OBD Compliance manager is responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of the Compliance Engineers at the Chino facility, managing investigations into potential compliance issues, ensuring on-time submission for mandatory regulatory compliance reports, and communicating timely status updates to the Regulation and Certification Department leadership.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: Manage the day-to-day activities of the Emissions and OBD Compliance team members located in HATCI's Chino facilitySupervise mandatory compliance reporting processes and review/approve material for submissionLead/support internal emissions and OBD compliance investigationsManage test budgets and evaluation vehicle administrationReview remedial action documents prepared to address in-use compliance issuesCommunicate with product development to drive external investigations to resolution for any issues identified in compliance testingInterface with regulatory agency representatives to provide updates on compliance activitiesConduct regular alignment meetings with all stakeholders, including senior management, to ensure compliance issues are addressed in a timely mannerWHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLEEducational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field of studyPreferred: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field of study, or Master's Degree in Business AdministrationRelated Industry Experience Requirements:10+ years of engineering experience 5+ years of emissions and/or OBD development or compliance experiencePreferred: 2+ years of managerial or project management experienceRequired Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of emissions certification and/or compliance processesExperience with vehicle emission testing (40 CFR §1066) and environmental regulations (40 CFR §85 and §86) Basic understanding of vehicle OBD system and regulations (13 CCR §1968.2 and/or §1971.1) Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilitiesProficiency in planning, executing, and closing projectsFlexibility in handling multiple projects concurrentlyPreferred automotive regulatory agency experienceWHAT HYUNDAI CAN OFFER YOUZero dollar employee premiums on Medical, Dental, and Vision for you and your family 100% employer-paid disability and life insuranceGenerous paid time off including vacation, sick and abundant holidays A global environment that fosters diversityCompetitive salariesRetirement savings and planning benefitsAccess to health savings accounts and flexible spending accountsCalifornia Salary Range $155,000 - $170,000OTHER DETAILSCandidates applying for positions with Hyundai KIA must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
