About Solid Starts Solid Starts is on a mission to give every family the confidence to feed their baby well and raise a happy eater. Our app and website reach millions of parents navigating one of the most overwhelming and important stages of early parenthood: starting solids.
Role Description:
The Data Analyst will work directly with the CTO and leadership team to make Solid Starts’product and business data easier to understand and act upon. Solid Starts already has rich product data in Post Hog and the underlying data-engineering needs are largely covered. The primary need is dedicated analytical bandwidth: someone who can define useful metrics, build reliable dashboards, investigate business and product questions, and proactively surface insights. The Data Analyst will also support Solid Starts’ experimentation program in Post Hog by definingmetrics before tests launch, validating experiment readiness, and analyzing results. This role is focused on analysis and decision support rather than building foundational data pipelines. This is a fully-remote contractor role, with opportunity to transition into full-time.
Rate: $6-10K /monthly DOE.
Core Responsibilities:
Analytics and Dashboard Development Build and maintain clear, trustworthy dashboards in Post Hog for product, operational, and business performance. Partner with leadership to define key metrics and ensure they are calculated and interpreted consistently. Create self-service reporting that allows teams to answer recurring questions without requiring one-off analysis. Document metric definitions, filters, assumptions, and known limitations. Regularly review dashboards to ensure they remain accurate, relevant, and understandable. Product and Business Analysis Analyze user acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, conversion, and other important behaviors. Use funnels, cohorts, segmentation, journeys, and retention analysis to identify opportunities and areas of concern. Investigate changes in performance and distinguish meaningful signals from normal variation. Combine product and business context to explain what is happening, why it may be happening, and what the company should consider doing next. Perform focused analyses in response to leadership, Product, Growth, Content, and CX questions. Experimentation and A/B Testing Partner with Product, the CTO, and other stakeholders to translate experiment goals and hypotheses into clear test plans. Define primary metrics, secondary metrics, guardrail metrics, success criteria, and relevant segments before A/B tests are launched. Validate Post Hog experiment configuration, event instrumentation, audience definitions, and data quality before and during each test. Monitor active experiments for data-quality issues and analyze completed results, including practical significance, uncertainty, and meaningful segment differences. Communicate conclusions and recommendations clearly, document learnings, and help teams decide whether to launch, iterate, or run follow-up tests. Decision Support and Communication Work directly with the CTO and leadership team to translate strategic questions into measurable analyses. Present findings through concise written summaries, visualizations, and recommendations. Clearly communicate uncertainty, data limitations, assumptions, and alternative interpretations. Proactively identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities that may not yet have been requested. Help teams define measurable outcomes before launching new initiatives or features. Data Quality and Analytics Practices Validate events, properties, filters, and definitions before using them in decision-making. Partner with engineers when instrumentation gaps or data-quality issues are discovered. Establish repeatable analytical practices and reduce conflicting interpretations of company metrics. Maintain organized, reusable queries and analyses rather than relying solely on one-off reports.
Qualifications:
Required Professional experience analyzing product, customer, or business data. Hands-on experience using Post Hog for dashboards and behavioral analysis. Ability to turn ambiguous business questions into structured analytical work. Strong understanding of funnels, cohorts, segmentation, retention, and product metrics. Hands-on experience supporting A/B tests or controlled experiments end to end, including pre-launch metric definition, experiment setup validation, and results analysis. Ability to create clear dashboards and explain findings to non-technical audiences. Strong attention to data quality and metric consistency. Excellent written and verbal communication. Preferred Working proficiency with SQL.Experience analyzing subscription, consumer, mobile, or web products. Experience partnering directly with company leadership. Familiarity with event instrumentation and product-analytics taxonomies. Experience with visualization or business-intelligence tools beyond Post Hog. Early Measures of Success Inventory existing Post Hog data, dashboards, events, and metric definitions. Align with leadership on a focused set of company and product KPIs. Audit and improve the executive-level dashboard that leadership trusts and regularly uses. Deliver actionable analysis of a meaningful product or business question. Establish a recurring process for surfacing trends, anomalies, and recommended follow-up analyses. Support an A/B test in Post Hog from pre-launch metric definition through results analysis and a clear recommendation

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
