You'll apply your roadway and highway design expertise—particularly your experience working with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT)—to solve complex engineering challenges and help develop innovative, sustainable transportation solutions.Projects you'll supportHighway and roadway improvement projects, including the I-24 Choice Lanes projectInterstate, interchange, and capacity expansion projectsTransit corridor enhancementsFederally funded and locally sponsored infrastructure programsYou'll work alongside experienced engineers and project managers, gaining hands-on experience collaborating with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and stakeholders. We encourage our team members to bring forward new ideas and contribute to solutions that enhance mobility and support Tennessee's growing communities.What you'll doUtilize technical expertise to lead and support roadway design efforts for transportation clients in TennesseePrepare and assist in developing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for roadway and highway improvement projectsReview roadway, bridge, and transportation design plans for conformance with contractual and state/federal agency requirementsCoordinate with multidisciplinary teammates and subconsultants to ensure cohesive project deliverablesCollaborate with TDOT personnel and local agency representatives throughout project development and deliveryContribute to QA/QC processes to support high-quality engineering outputProvide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers to support overall team growthSupport business development efforts, including client relationship building and proposal generationHere's what you'll needBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent)Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee, or ability to obtain within six months if licensed in another stateMinimum 8+ years of experience in roadway and highway design includingExperience delivering transportation projects for DOT clientsProficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3DExcellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teamsIdeally, you'll also have15+ years of experience supporting or leading multidiscipline engineering design and construction projectsFamiliarity with TDOT standards, TDOT's Project Delivery Network, AASHTO guidelines, FHWA requirements, and local agency proceduresKnowledge of maintenance of traffic (MOT), utility coordination, and drainage considerations associated with roadway designExperience mentoring junior engineers and designers#LI-KD1#TennTOur health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
