Job Description: Now Hiring: Shop Operator/Material Handler
Location: Houston, TX 77051
Schedule: 8:00am-5:00pmPay: $17-$18/hour
The Houston branch of Openwork has partnered with a growing Pipe, Valve & Flange company in Houston to add a Material Handler to their team!
What You'll Be Doing: Assist with upkeep of shop machines/fork lifts; consisting of adding coolant and oil. Load and unload finished pieces from shop machines. Preparing finished materials for shipment. Keeping shop floor clean at all times. Assisting shipping department. Observe necessary safety precautions. Cross-train on alternate assignments and perform duties in other work areas as needed. Any other duties as requested by respective supervisor and/or manager.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience operating a forklift.
  • Stable work history, preferably in a warehouse/distribution environment.
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Committed to working safely at all times including a commitment to the policies and procedures of the operation.
  • Positive attitude and a good team member.
  • PPE Required:
  • Hardhat; Type 1 Class E, Orange (high visibility)
  • Safety Glasses – ANSI z87+, ClearSafety Vest – Type R, Class 2, None FR, Yellow/Green, or OrangeCut resistant gloves LVL 4+Steel Toed Boots (at least 5” ankle coverage)
