About the role
Position Purpose:
We are seeking a highly skilled Spectroscopist to lead advanced spectroscopic analysis and quality control operations in support of our internal research and development initiatives. This role requires deep expertise in infrared and Raman spectroscopytechniques, withafocusonmaterialscharacterizationandqualityassurance. Thesuccessfulcandidatewillbe responsible for maintaining critical spectroscopy instrumentation while developing and implementing robust analytical procedures to support our customers and ensure the highest standards of material quality control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Spectroscopy Instrumentation&Operations
Operate, calibrate, andmaintainlaboratoryspectroscopysystemsincludinginfraredspectrometers/microscopesand Raman spectrometers/microscopes
Ensureoptimalperformanceandaccuracyofallspectroscopicinstrumentationthroughpreventivemaintenanceand troubleshooting
Developandimplementcalibrationprotocolsandqualityassuranceproceduresforspectroscopicmeasurements
Staycurrentwithadvancesinspectroscopytechnologyandrecommendequipmentupgradesoracquisitions
Quality Control & Analysis: Performcomprehensiveinfraredand Ramanqualitycontrolmeasurementsofmaterialstosupportcustomerrequirements
Analyzecomplexspectraldatatoidentifymaterialproperties, composition, andpotentialqualityissues
GeneratedetailedEMXLABQuality Controlreportswithclearfindings, interpretations, andrecommendations
Ensuretimelydeliveryofqualitycontrolresultstomeetprojectdeadlinesandcustomerexpectations
Standard Operating Procedures & Process Improvement: Develop, maintain, andcontinuouslyimprove Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs)forspectroscopicdata collection

StrongprogrammingskillsinMATLAB, Python, R, orsimilaranalyticalsoftware platforms
Experiencewithstatisticalanalysismethodsincludingregressionanalysisanderror quantification
Education/
Experience:
A bachelor's degree in a science field (i.e., physics, chemistry) from an accredited college or university with at least 12 years of experienceinexperimental orappliedscience(physics, chemistry, orrelated)ORamaster'sdegreeinasciencefield(i.e., physics, chemistry) from an accredited college or university with at least 6 years of experience as described above OR a Ph. D. in a natural science.
Certificates/Licenses: None Required
Clearance: Theabilitytoobtaina Departmentof Defense Secretclearanceand Departmentof Homeland Security Fitnessisrequiredforthis position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisionofthetechnicalactivitiesperformedbythemorejuniorstaffmembersassignedtotheprojectisrequiredforthis position.
Working Conditions/Equipment: Theincumbentprofessionalisexpectedtobepresentattheworksiteand/orbeavailableduringregularbusinesshours. He/she should also generally be available via e-mail or phone during non-business hours as needed to address critical issues or emergencies.
