About the role
QUALIFICATIONSPharm D required
Must have a current Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license in the state of Texas
At least 3 years' experience in a hospital pharmacy
Thorough knowledge of the clinical pharmacy duties
Basic knowledge of regulatory guidelines and requirements
Basic knowledge of risk management principles
Basic knowledge of teaching and training methods
Working knowledge of researching clinical studies to evaluate drug usage
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the schedule for pharmacy employees including the pharmacist on-call schedule.
Manages the training activities and schedule for new pharmacy employees.
Investigates and acts on matters related to compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws.
Manages Opioid Stewardship Committee and Antibiotic Stewardship Committee therefore both serve to improve patient safety and patient care.
Assures compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS and other regulatory agencies.
Manages medication safety performance improvement committees to improve patient safety and patient care according to evidence based practices.
Performs routine audits to ensure compliance with regulatory performance improvement activities and standards of performance.
Conducts the pharmacy section for hospital orientation for new employees.
Assists with preparation for Pharmacy and Therapeutics committees.
Conducts activities required of a clinical pharmacist including, but not limited to:
management of the drug distribution system
providing patient order entry
consulting with clinical team members as needed
providing drug information to clinical team members and patients
completing medication reconciliation for med/surg patients
management of pharmacy technicians
