Massage Therapist The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a Massage Therapist to join our energetic team and move Gators toward lifelong wellbeing! Massage Therapists at the Department of Recreational Sports are provided with a room, electric massage table, sheets, oil, and a laundering service. Therapists will also have access to RecSports marketing channels and materials for promotional opportunities. Therapists are provided access to all RecSports facilities, fields, and programs, including group fitness, weight and cardio rooms, Lake Wauburg, intramural sports, and more! Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants, and guests. Uphold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of RecSports Service: accountability, anticipating needs, attitude, and atmosphere. Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a RecSports ambassador. Take ownership of RecSports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic. Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding RecSports facilities. Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction. Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures. All RecSports employees are expected to abide by the RecSports Student Staff Career Readiness Principles that clarifies shared expectations and standards in effort to best serve our patrons, develop each team member, and prepare student employees for future career endeavors. Provide Massage Therapy modalities to clients within the scope of the State of Florida Massage Therapy license. Maintain a clean work environment including treatment areas. Monitor Massage Therapy materials (sheets, oils, etc.), keeping treatment rooms well stocked at all times. Provide directions and information to valid users and guests regarding facilities and programs. Answer main phone lines and direct calls to appropriate personnel, take Massage Therapy reservations, and answer facility or program inquiries. Learn the responsibilities and tasks required of the supervising positions. Contribute to the promotion of the Massage Therapy Program with regards to activities, events, programs, and off-site services. All RecSports employees are expected to abide by the RecSports Student Staff Career Readiness Principles that clarifies shared expectations and standards in effort to best serve our patrons, develop each team member, and prepare student employees for future career endeavors. Expected Salary: $34-$36 per hour
Required Qualifications: State of Florida Massage Therapy License and proof of professional liability insurance First Aid, CPR, AED certification or ability to attain it within the first week of employment Interest in health and wellness, recreation, fitness, and campus involvement Availability to work shifts as well as by appointment, including weekend hours Availability to work three permanent shifts, at minimum, each week, totaling at least 10 hours per week Complete and maintain UF online certifications in GET803, OOC101, PRV802, ITT102, GET811 This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week. Federal Work Study students are encouraged to apply!
Preferred: 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience Certifications in specialized modalities Experience with dynamic cupping and hot stone Background in a clinical or spa environment This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
