Job Description: The Division of Energy, Matter, and Systems (EMS) in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at the University of Missouri‑Kansas City (UMKC) is seeking applications for a non‑tenure‑track teaching faculty position in Mechanical Engineeringat the Assistant Teaching Professorlevel, to start in the Spring Semester 2027 (January 2027).Candidate backgrounds in all areas of Mechanical Engineering are encouraged, especially those with experience in teaching core and advanced courses, project‑based approaches, and laboratory‑based courses. Candidates with expertise in instrumentation, thermal sciences, robotics, and controls are particularly encouraged.
Responsibilities: Teach fundamental and specialized courses in Mechanical Engineering. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and transfer students. Engage in departmental, school, or university services appropriate to the position. Advance the goals and strategic plans of UMKC.
Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline as of the start date or possess an M.Sc. in a relevant field combined with substantial industry experience. Candidates with expertise in instrumentation, thermal sciences, robotics, and controls are particularly encouraged.
Salary & Benefits: Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. This is a nine‑month, benefit‑eligible, full‑time (1.0 FTE) ranked faculty appointment eligible for promotion. Benefits include health, dental and vision plans, retirement contributions, and tuition discounts at all four UM System universities for full‑time employees and qualifying dependents.
