Summary:
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team and take ownership of complex, high-impact projects across the stack. You'll design and build scalable backend services in Node.js on GCP Cloud Run, with MongoDB as the primary datastore, while also contributing to front-end experiences built with React and React Router. As a senior member of the team, you'll be expected to write high-quality, maintainable code, make sound architectural decisions, mentor other engineers, and help set technical direction — all while balancing security, performance, and scalability as first-class concerns. This role touches everything from API integration work and UI component development to CI/CD collaboration and secure coding practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain Node.js microservices deployed on GCP Cloud RunBuild and integrate REST APIs across a variety of sources — including our own services, third-party platforms, and client-specific APIsModel and query data in MongoDB, with an eye toward performance and scalability
- Build reusable, well-structured React UI components and maintain front-end features using React RouterWrite and maintain unit tests for new and existing code, and help establish code coverage standards as part of our CI/CD pipeline
- Design services with security and scalability as first-class concerns (authentication, authorization, input validation, rate limiting, secrets management, horizontal scaling)
- Write secure code by default, following best practices for dependency and vulnerability management
- Collaborate on CI/CD workflows and vulnerability management processes
- Support integrations with third-party platforms and vendors (e.g., Shopify Admin/Flow/GraphQL APIs, fraud/identity verification services)
- Participate in load and performance testing (e.g., k6, Grafana) to validate services under scale
- Work with Cloudflare, including Cloudflare Workers, for edge compute and request handling where applicable
Requirements:
- Professional experience building backend services in Node.jsExperience with MongoDB (schema design, indexing, performance tuning)
- Hands-on experience with GCP or a comparable cloud provider
- Solid understanding of REST API design and integration
- Front-end experience with React, including building UI components and working with React RouterStrong unit testing habits and experience with testing frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to design for scalability and security (authentication, authorization, input validation, secure secrets handling)
- Comfortable working across the stack and collaborating with cross-functional teams
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Cloudflare, especially building or maintaining Cloudflare Workers
- Experience building or maintaining Shopify apps, Shopify Flow workflows, or Shopify Admin/GraphQL integrations
- Experience with load/performance testing tools (k6, Grafana)
- Experience with SSO implementations (e.g., Multipass-style authentication)
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance
