Manufacturing Engineer

About the role
Ready to own a program outright instead of supporting somebody else's?
About the Position:
A seat comes together from raw components supplied by dozens of partners, and the process that puts it together is yours. We're hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Lansing, Michigan to own a program on a high-volume, semi-manual seat assembly line. That means line balancing, rate and efficiency, APQP documentation, and constant coordination with operators, quality, controls, maintenance, finance, and the customer sitting in our building. If you like being the person who actually changes the process, not the one who reviews it, this is your seat.
Key Responsibilities:
Rebalance a 20-station assembly line to hit rate and efficiency targets, including time studies and workload redistribution, and understand how changing one station ripples across the other nineteen. Own the documentation that keeps the floor running right: PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, Operator Instruction Sheets, and poka-yoke audits. Support new program launches and process development, including prototype builds, tooling and equipment validation, and readiness training for new processes. Communicate daily across every level of the plant, from hourly team members on the line to production supervisors, engineering peers, and the customer. Drive continuous improvement in quality, ergonomics, and safety while staying compliant with ISO and IATF 16949.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.3-5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, ideally in automotive or comparable high-volume assembly. We will consider two years if your PFMEA and line balancing work is hands-on and verified. Direct experience creating and maintaining PFMEAs, Control Plans, and process documentation yourself, not just working alongside the teams that do. A track record of performing line balancing, rebalancing, or process changes on an operator-driven line in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills across engineering, operations, quality, maintenance, and customer stakeholders. Comfort flexing your schedule to support off-shift changes, with occasional travel to support other plants. This role sits in a four-person engineering group reporting to a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, with a clear path to program ownership on day one. First shift runs 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., onsite in Lansing, and relocation support is available for the right candidate. We are moving quickly and interviewing now. If you're ready to take the wheel on a program, apply today.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
