About the role
Area Manager, Store Operations As an Area Manager at Wegmans, you will lead multiple departments and partner with other areas of the store to ensure incredible customer service is provided, products are well merchandised and ensure Wegmans remains a great place to work.
What You'll Do:
Lead with our values, coach and develop department managers and employees across multiple operational areas.
Foster incredible knowledge-based service by ensuring departments work together to create a seamless total shopping experience for customers.
Drive operational excellence through effective forecasting and staffing, financial, people and operational measures.
Ensure high standards for food safety, human safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance.
Lead merchandising initiatives, seasonal plans and sales-driving strategies.
Partner with corporate teams and vendors to support business objectives and customer needs.
Lead and execute store events and operational priorities.
Respond to changing business needs, respond quickly to emergency situations, and lead continuous improvement efforts.
Champion Wegmans values while building an engaged, inclusive, and high-performing team.
Required Qualifications:
- Leadership experience in retail, grocery, hospitality, food service, customer service, operations, or a related environment.
- Experience interviewing, performance management, employee development and managing financials.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiasm for and knowledge of relevant products and services
- Systems aptitude and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Qualifications2 or more years of department leadership experience.
- Experience leading managers and developing future leaders.
- Retail, grocery, food service, merchandising, service, or perishable operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent leadership experience.
