About the role

Datacenter People are currently supporting a global leader in data center infrastructure solutions in the search for a Senior Field Sales Engineer to support customers and partners across the Western United States. This is a remote, customer-facing technical sales role focused on pre-sales engineering, solution development and technical support across fiber, copper and physical data infrastructure products. The position sits alongside the sales organisation, acting as the technical subject matter expert throughout customer engagements and helping translate infrastructure requirements into practical, well-designed solutions.
The Opportunity: You will work closely with sales teams, resellers, distributors and agency partners to support technically complex opportunities across enterprise, healthcare, government, retail and data center environments. The role combines pre-sales engineering, product expertise, customer presentations, technical training, proof-of-concept support and troubleshooting, with a strong emphasis on becoming a trusted technical advisor to end users. What the Job Involves…Act as the technical subject matter expert across fiber optic and copper connectivity solutions Provide pre-sales engineering support to customers, partners and sales teams Deliver product presentations, solution demonstrations and technical training Translate customer infrastructure requirements into suitable technical solutions Support proof-of-concept projects, product evaluations and technical project activity Develop strong relationships with end users and act as a trusted technical advisor Identify new applications and market opportunities Troubleshoot complex product and application issues Support escalated customer issues requiring factory-level technical involvement Work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Sales and other internal teams The position is remote and will involve travel of up to approximately 50% across the territory. We're Looking for Someone Who...Strong experience within fiber optics, structured cabling, data communications or network infrastructure Background in pre-sales engineering, applications engineering, field engineering or technical customer support Strong understanding of fiber and copper connectivity technologies Experience presenting technical solutions and leading customer discussions Ability to read, develop or work with technical specifications and documentation Familiarisation with AutoCADStrong project management and organisational skills Comfortable working independently in a remote field-based environment The role requires significant industry experience, ideally around 7+ years within information technology transport, connectivity or a related manufacturing environment.
