Apap Painting & Renovations is a painting and construction company based in Patterson, NY, with a sister company, Incredible Concrete Coatings, LLC. We run a lean, tech-forward office and are always looking for better, faster ways to work.
About the Role:
We're looking for a hands-on Staff Accountant to own day-to-day accounting for both companies and to serve as the office's go-to person for our business technology. Reporting to the Controller, you'll keep the books accurate and current, manage company devices and credit cards, and help us improve how we work through better use of our software. This role suits someone who learns new tools quickly, finds answers on their own, and likes making processes more efficient.
Responsibilities:
- AccountingProcess accounts payable in QuickBooks Online, including entering, coding, and paying vendor bills and maintaining vendor records and W-9sManage accounts receivable: invoicing, recording deposits, and following up on collections
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts monthly
- Code and review Ramp card transactions and enforce receipt compliance
- Code costs to jobs accurately to support job costing
- Assist with month-end close, journal entries, sales tax filings, and year-end 1099sTrack subcontractor certificates of insurance, lien waivers, and other compliance documents
- Systems & Office Administration
- Administer company phones, tablets, and other devices, including setup, carrier accounts, and onboarding and offboarding
- Issue and manage Ramp cards, spending limits, and user access
- Maintain trackers and workflows in Smartsheet
- Troubleshoot software questions and research solutions on your own before escalating
- Identify and build process improvements such as automations, integrations, templates, and reports
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience 2+ years of hands-on QuickBooks Online experience (required)
- Construction or job-costing experience
- Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets skills
- Comfortable learning new cloud-based software quickly and independently
- Highly organized, accurate, and discreet with confidential information
- Resourceful: you research answers and solve problems without needing step-by-step direction
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Must complete a QuickBooks Online skills assessment to be considered
Nice to Have:
Experience with Ramp, Bill.com, Smartsheet, or similar platforms Experience with automation tools (Zapier, etc.), APIs, scripting, or AI tools
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, in person at our Patterson, NY office
