Laboratory Information Coordinator Position Summary The Laboratory Information Coordinator receives, distributes, and processes blood and body fluids/specimens from inpatient, outpatient and outreach locations. The LIC coordinates information between laboratory sections and between the laboratory and its clients. He/she maintains the daily operation of the laboratory information computer system. The Laboratory Information Coordinator participates in educational and training activities and may participate in the performance of routine administrative and non-routine technical functions. Laboratory Information Coordinator Position Requirements Education Must be able to type and use computer keypad. Some medical terminology courses and computer data entry experience is desirable.
Experience: One year experience with general business procedures or computer operation.
Laboratory Information Coordinator Work Schedule:
The Laboratory is staffed seven days a week, twenty-four hours per day. Personnel may be assigned to work mostly one shift or may have a rotational schedule consisting of duty on day, evening and night shifts. Both options may include weekends.
Rotational coverage of holidays.
Expected to work overtime and/or additional weekends in times of staffing shortages, emergencies and unexpected increases in workload.
Expected to respond in the event of a disaster.
