About the role
A high-growth technology company is seeking a Lead Product Counsel to serve as a strategic advisor to Product, Engineering, Security, and Technology teams across the full product lifecycle. This newly created role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of matters involving product development, artificial intelligence, privacy, data governance, intellectual property, and emerging technologies. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the business innovate responsibly while building scalable legal processes that support growth and long-term success.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a trusted legal partner to Product, Engineering, Security, and Technology stakeholders.
Advise on product development, launches, feature enhancements, and strategic technology initiatives.
Provide practical guidance on privacy, data governance, intellectual property, and technology-related legal matters.
Support AI governance initiatives and emerging technology programs.
Develop and improve scalable legal review processes that enable innovation while managing risk.
Conduct legal risk assessments relating to products, third-party technologies, and strategic business initiatives.
Advise on intellectual property strategy, ownership, protection, and innovation-related matters.
Draft and maintain policies, standards, and governance frameworks supporting product development and business growth.
Partner cross-functionally with legal, product, engineering, security, compliance, and business teams.
Qualifications:
J.D. and active U.S. bar membership.7-10+ years of relevant legal experience.
Significant experience advising Product, Engineering, Technology, or Innovation teams.
Experience supporting complex technology products and services in an in-house environment.
Strong understanding of privacy, intellectual property, technology transactions, and product-related legal issues.
Familiarity with AI governance, data usage, and emerging technology developments.
Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong commercial judgment and a practical approach to risk management.
