About the role
CustodianJob OverviewThe Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned.Roles & ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully and safely, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.Perform janitorial dutiesPerform all duties listed on the daily schedulePerform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste.Operate motorized cleaning equipmentMaintain daily upkeep of assigned areaReport incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisorComply with safety rules, policies, and proceduresStop at risk behavior of others and selfPerform work assignments in a team with other employeesPerform repetitive tasksMaintain clean work areaFollow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rulesTake direction and respond to supervisionTalk with lead, supervisor, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional mannerFill in during staff shortageSupport shift lead in completing punch-list itemsUse proper personal protective equipmentPresent a professional appearance and conductUnderstand customer service and satisfactionUnderstand reporting systems, and of the environmentQualificationTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.Education and/ or Experience: No specific education requirement, 3-6 months training or experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: May be required to have a valid driver's license. Completed all safety and task training certification. May be required to be forklift certified.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Bilingual a plusAbility to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documentsStrong verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willing to share with teamKnowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipmentKnowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient useSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
