About the role

Director of Email & Data Strategy — #3657310-3New York, NY — remote considered for the right person · Full-time · DOE + benefits
About the role: A historic New York City newspaper is bringing its email program fully in-house and is hiring a Director of Email & Data Strategy to run it. The scale is real: roughly two billion emails a year, about twenty million email records, and billions of largely unused data points. This is an enterprise infrastructure and data-strategy job, not a campaign-calendar job. You will be strategic enough to turn that data into revenue and technical enough to execute it yourself.
What you will do:
  • Bring high-volume email deployment and strategy fully in-house
  • Evaluate ESP platforms and implement advanced email technology
  • Manage roughly two billion annual emails across audience segments
  • Develop segmentation strategies across millions of subscriber records
  • Turn Snowflake data into actionable audience and revenue insight
  • Identify opportunities to monetize data with advertisers and partners
  • Integrate email performance and data strategy across business functions
What we are looking for:
  • Proven experience managing enterprise-scale email marketing and deployment programs
  • Deep knowledge of ESPs, deliverability, segmentation, and automation tools
  • Strong data analytics experience with large, complex audience databases
  • Experience translating Snowflake (or comparable cloud warehouse) data into business applications
  • Ability to develop data monetization strategies responsibly and commercially
  • Strong understanding of advertising, audience targeting, and revenue optimization
  • Comfort owning both technical operations and strategic business outcomes
Compensation: Starting at $110k + benefits. Higher salary for more experience.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
