Ampersand Therapy is hiring a part-time *Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist* to support students with visual impairments in *Tumwater Washington*. Location: Tumwater, WA
Schedule:
2 days per week In-person, school-based role Provide evaluations, direct instruction, and consultation for students with visual impairments *
Responsibilities:
*Conduct O&M evaluations and identify students' short- and long-term needs. Teach students to travel safely and confidently in familiar and unfamiliar environments while building independence. Collaborate with teachers of students with visual impairments on functional vision assessments related to travel. Provide instruction and support aligned with each student's IEP.Consult with families, teachers, school staff, and peers on strategies that support student independence and safety. Monitor progress and maintain evaluation reports, IEP documentation, progress notes, and other required records. Provide training to school staff and families on students' O&M needs. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary school team. *
Requirements:
*Bachelor's degree in Education; master's degree in Special Education preferred Valid Washington State Education Staff Associate certificate with the required Special Education endorsement and qualifications to serve as an O&M instructor Valid Washington State driver's license First Aid and CPR certification Ability to complete required criminal background clearance Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills *
