About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm/Electrical Construction Inspector to oversee fire alarm installation, modification, testing, and commissioning within an active, occupied facility. This role will ensure work meets project specifications, life safety codes, NFPA standards, and quality requirements while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
Pay: $55–$65/hour and Benefits
Key Responsibilities: Inspect fire alarm installation, replacement, expansion, and modernization activities. Verify contractor compliance with drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and applicable codes. Inspect fire alarm panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, and related infrastructure. Identify, document, and track deficiencies and corrective actions. Monitor compliance with NFPA, fire/life safety codes, OSHA, and AHJ requirements. Witness functional, acceptance, integrated systems testing, and commissioning activities. Review testing reports, RFIs, submittals, punch lists, and closeout documentation. Prepare daily inspection reports, field notes, photographs, and quality documentation. Coordinate with facility personnel, contractors, project teams, and other stakeholders in an occupied facility. Monitor safety procedures, permits, fire watch, lockout/tagout, and operational requirements. Communicate schedule, quality, safety, and operational concerns to project leadership.
Qualifications: High school diploma/GED required.10+ years of construction inspection experience, including significant fire alarm/life safety experience. Experience inspecting work in occupied or operational facilities. Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, installation practices, and acceptance testing. Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, riser diagrams, and sequences of operation. Strong communication and documentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic project documentation systems
Preferred: NICET Fire Alarm Certification (Level II–IV).Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Electronics, Fire Protection, or related field. Fire Inspector or Fire Protection certifications. Experience with Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Notifier, Edwards, or Simplex systems. Commissioning/integrated systems testing experience. Federal, critical infrastructure, or mission-critical facility experience.
