About the role
Solid Waste/Recycling Program Truck DriverUnder regular supervision, drives trucks and operates a variety of equipment being utilized on site for solid waste/recycling program. Reports to the Deputy Public Works Director. Operates a variety of trucks and light motor equipment in various semi-skilled duties such as transport of refuse containers from county convenience centers to landfills/transfer stations/material recovery facilities. Operates a truck to travel to various locations throughout the County and haul various materials being utilized on job sites, mainly refuse material. Operates various truck and light motor equipment such as a dump truck, roll off trucks, asphalt roller, bushhog, knuckle boom, etc. Assists with other related public works duties such as putting out asphalt, installing driveway tiles, installing rock on roads, grading, installing signs, removing road debris, etc. Exercises care and safety in the use of equipment and tools required to complete assigned tasks. Performs duties to maintain the cleanliness and operation of the trucks. Communicates with immediate supervisor, other department personnel, and the public. Weekend and holiday work mandatory for this position. May be called in for emergency/severe weather situations. May be required to perform routine maintenance tasks around the department. Performs related duties as required. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a valid South Carolina "Class B" commercial driver's license. Equal Opportunity Employer
