Department Summary:
Our mission is to provide high-quality, cost-effective pathology services in a manner that supports thepatient care, education, and research missions of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and School of Medicine.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Clinical: Day-to-day sign-out of cases in academicsurgical pathology subspecialty services. The surgical pathologyservice encounters a wide variety of neoplastic and non-neoplasticconditions Service: Participation in tumor boards and otherconferences with clinical colleagues is required. Participation indepartmental, institutional, and national committees whennecessary Teaching: Participation in the educational activitiesof Anatomic Pathology: (1) didactic presentations, rounds, andseminars involving residents, medical and graduate students, anddental and allied health students; (2) continuing education forfaculty, nurses, allied health personnel, and community physicians; and (3) development of workshops at the local, state, and nationallevel Research: Scholarship primarily in Pathology throughpresentations at national meetings, developing clinical researchcollaborations, contributions to peer-reviewed scientificliterature, and active participation in appropriate professionalorganizations is required The faculty member will report to and work closely with the Division Chief to further the mission and vision of the Departmentof Pathology
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree Board eligibility or Board certification by the American Boardof Pathology in Anatomic Pathology. A scholarly record of publication in books and peer-reviewedjournals, and presentations at national meetings Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
