Role Description: The Property Accountant is a full-time, on-site position based in Tampa, FL. This role is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including preparing monthly financial statements, posting journal entries, and maintaining general ledger accuracy. The Property Accountant will review and reconcile accounts, monitor cash activity, support budgeting and forecasting processes, and assist with variance analysis. The role includes collaborating with property management and leasing teams to ensure timely billing, collections, and expense coding, as well as supporting year-end audit and tax preparation. The Property Accountant is expected to maintain organized records, adhere to internal controls, and meet strict reporting deadlines.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong Accounting and Finance skills, including a solid understanding of property or real estate accounting principles. Candidates should possess skills in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, with experience preparing, analyzing, and interpreting property-level financials. Candidates should possess skills in Journal Entries (Accounting), including posting, reviewing, and reconciling entries to ensure general ledger accuracy. Relevant qualifications include proficiency with accounting software and Excel, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail. Beneficial qualifications include prior experience in commercial real estate or property management accounting and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Additional beneficial skills include effective communication, ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and capacity to manage multiple deadlines.
