About the role
Develop and execute trading strategies across Eastern U.S. OTC power markets.
Manage a portfolio of physical and financial power positions with responsibility for P&L, risk, and portfolio performance.
Identify and capitalize on opportunities across OTC, term, cash, and real-time power markets.
Develop fundamental market views based on supply/demand, generation, load, weather, fuel economics, and market conditions.
Evaluate, negotiate, and structure bilateral power transactions.
Manage portfolio exposures across locations, products, contract structures, and time horizons.
Monitor market developments and adjust portfolio positioning to optimize risk-adjusted returns.
Build and maintain relationships with utilities, generators, marketers, financial institutions, and other OTC counterparties.
Collaborate with origination, scheduling, trade operations, risk, and analytics teams to execute and manage transactions.
Evaluate structured transactions and optionality and incorporate them into overall portfolio strategy.
Monitor portfolio P&L, risk, liquidity, and exposure and communicate key developments to senior management.
Identify new trading opportunities and contribute to the growth of Altop's East Power OTC business.
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in U.S. power trading, portfolio management, power origination, or a related role.
Proven experience trading or managing OTC power positions in Eastern U.S. markets.
Strong knowledge of PJM, NYISO, and/or ISO-NE markets.
Strong understanding of physical and financial power markets and bilateral OTC transactions.
Experience with term power, cash/spot power, and/or structured power products.
Strong understanding of power fundamentals, including generation, load, weather, fuel economics, and market pricing.
Demonstrated ability to independently develop market views and make trading decisions.
Proven track record of managing risk and generating P&L.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and commercial skills.
Established relationships with power market counterparties preferred.
Experience structuring customized bilateral transactions is a plus.
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial trading environment.
