About the role
- Design HVAC and mechanical systems for residential and commercial building projects
- Support projects from conceptual design and system selection through construction documentation and construction administration
- Perform HVAC load calculations, equipment sizing, and mechanical system design
- Develop ductwork, ventilation, piping, and related mechanical system layouts
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, and supporting design documentation
- Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, plumbing, architectural, structural, and other project disciplines
- Participate in client meetings and communicate technical recommendations clearly
- Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions and observe construction progress
- Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and assist with construction phase engineering support
- Apply applicable California building, mechanical, energy, and sustainability requirements to project designs
- Work collaboratively with engineers and designers to deliver accurate, cost effective, constructible solutions
- 2+ years of mechanical engineering or mechanical design experience
- Hands on experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for buildings
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline preferredExperience with commercial, residential, institutional, or similar building projects preferred
- Familiarity with California mechanical and energy codes, including Title 24, is preferredExperience preparing construction documents and coordinating across multiple disciplines
- AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred
- Strong technical, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills
- Ability to attend client meetings and visit project sites as needed
