Summary:
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Engineering Technician 4, under general supervision, performs advanced functions requiring technical knowledge and use of electronic applications, standards, and document control processes/procedures to create or modify deliverables. This role will: Focus on site drainage, grading, and utility plans development using Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley Micro Station. Be part of the Governments & Water Utilities (G&Wu) group supporting water, wastewater, linear pipeline, and other water-related infrastructure projects. Require basic Civil 3D experience, particularly with: Pipe/pressure networks Proposed grading surfaces Plan and profile development
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Standards: Understand and implement current standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and policies and procedures. Quality / Continuous Improvement: Apply the Quality Program to ensure accuracy and compliance in deliverables. Demonstrate personal accuracy and support improvement efforts. Review design inputs for consistency. Ensure deliverables meet project-specific codes and standards. Engineering Production: Broaden use of applications for continuous improvement. Create and develop deliverables based on design inputs. Perform computations (e.g., material quantity estimates, dimensional checks).Project Coordination: Coordinate deliverables across project teams to minimize errors. May support field activities. Assist with project finalization tasks (e.g., as-built drawings, quantity take-offs).Client Focus: Understand and address internal and external client needs and priorities. Knowledge Sharing, Innovation & Technology: Proactively seek and share knowledge of emerging technologies. Use judgment in interpreting inputs and making design decisions. People Management (if applicable): May supervise, direct, or mentor others.
Required Skills:
Autodesk Civil 3D (required)Strong focus on pipelines Experience with Civil 3D pipe networks and plan & profile production Typically, a minimum of 10 years of related work experience
Technical Skills:
Autodesk Civil 3DAutodesk AutoCADBluebeam Experience with relevant electronic applications (e.g., CADD)Advanced interpretation of engineering deliverables Basic knowledge of: Engineering standards and systems Document control and policies/procedures Industry trends and technologies Quality programs and multi-discipline collaboration Construction and constructability principles Engineering design principles and discipline-specific guides
Education:
Diploma or Certificate preferred Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology preferred
