JOB DUTIES: Patient Care
Perform vital signs including pulse ox; apply cardiac monitors, recording strips, and 12 and 15 lead EKG's (pediatric and adult) Maintain airways by BLS and CPR/CRR, nasal and oral airway insertion Assist Paramedic with treatment of patients within the EMT scope of practice Drive an ambulance when needed Provide BLS care Document Level 4 emergency calls and routine BLS transfers Complete initial assessments of patients in admissions and waiting rooms Respond to EMS calls with 3rd and 4th hour personnel during high call volume in EMS or as extra personnel for transfers when needed and requested by the Director or Supervisor MaintenanceMonitor and restock supplies Report equipment issues to the Ambulance Supervisor Complete daily unit checks, daily cleaning of quarters, washing and maintaining ambulances and other EMS equipment daily, as needed AdditionalServe as a member of the Code Team Charting/documentation of medical records Various other tasks assigned by the physician on duty Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations, as well as exerting in excess of 100 pounds occasionally, or in excess of 50 pounds frequently, or in excess of 20 pounds constantly Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public Detail-oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others Ability to see with close, distance, full color, peripheral, full depth vision and adjust focus, requiredAbility to relate well with all levels of the hospital/facility and medical staff, requiredAbility to care for patients of all nationalities, cultures, beliefs, self-identifications, and ages, requiredAbility to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; ability to work under pressure and stress; required Knowledge of accreditation process and requirements, preferred Associate must produce the EVOC/CEVO training certificate. If EVOC/CEVO certification was not obtained during schooling or the associate is unable to provide it, the associate must take an online course to obtain certification prior to driving.
