Location: Indianapolis, IN
Compensation: $20–$22/hour, depending on experience
Hours: 8:30 AM–5:15 PM, Monday–Friday; some overtime may be required

An international logistics company providing transportation, warehousing, and import/export services throughout the United States and internationally.
Position Summary:
The Sales Assistant supports sales, customer service, and logistics operations involving air, ocean, and ground import/export shipments. The role coordinates with customers, carriers, warehouses, customs-related parties, overseas partners, and internal departments to support accurate and timely freight movement.
Professional Japanese proficiency is required for regular communication with Japanese-speaking customers and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate air, ocean, and ground import/export shipments.
Prepare and review shipping, customs, billing, and import/export documentation.
Provide shipment updates and responsive customer support.
Coordinate with warehouses, carriers, overseas partners, customs-related parties, and internal teams.
Prepare freight quotations and assist with shipment arrangements.
Support established customer accounts and new sales opportunities.
Resolve shipment, documentation, and service issues in coordination with management.
Review invoices, manifests, shipment data, classifications, and related records for accuracy.
Support customs clearance and resolution of shipment delays.
Follow applicable U.S. Customs, HAZMAT, OSHA, CTPAT, TSA, and other regulatory requirements.
Identify workflow inefficiencies and support Kaizen/continuous improvement initiatives.
Visit customers, warehouses, ports, or other job sites as required.
Qualifications
Required:
Expert-level Japanese and professional English communication skills.
Previous customer service or customer support experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize workload.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Ability to work overtime and travel as required.
Preferred:
Logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or warehousing experience.
Air/ocean import-export experience.
Experience with logistics or freight-forwarding software.
Experience preparing freight quotations or supporting customer accounts.
Familiarity with Kaizen or continuous improvement practices.
Other Details Onsite work is required.
Some overnight and out-of-state travel may be required.
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship is available for this role.
