About the role

The Communications department of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Content Strategist. This team member is responsible for developing and executing channel and content strategies that advance the NAIC's organizational goals and connects with audiences. This role serves as both a strategic content leader and a hands‐on content creator, leading content planning across NAIC.org, social media, email marketing, and other digital channels while creating, writing, editing, and publishing high-quality content. Through collaboration with stakeholders across the organization, this role ensures content is strategic, engaging, and aligned with the NAIC's brand and business objectives. This is a full-time, hybrid position. Residency within 100 miles of the Kansas City, Missouri Office is required.
Responsibilities: Content Development and Strategy Develops and leads integrated content strategies across NAIC digital channels, including NAIC.org, social media, email marketing, ensuring content aligns with organizational priorities, audience needs, and measurable NAIC objectives. Creates, writes, edits, and publishes high-quality content across digital channels, including website copy, articles, social media content, email campaigns, multimedia content, and campaign assets. Translate complex insurance, regulatory, and organizational topics into clear, engaging, audience-focused content. Identifies audience needs and content opportunities through research, analytics, and stakeholder engagement, translating complex topics into compelling, audience-centered stories. Owns and manages the editorial calendar, content life‐cycle, governance standards, and channel plans to ensure consistent, timely, and strategic content delivery. Content Optimization: Develops content optimized for search, AI‐powered discovery, accessibility, and user experience by applying SEO, AEO, and GEO best practices. Partners with the NAIC.org web team to enhance content strategy, site performance, and digital user experiences. Analytics and Reporting: Tracks content performance and engagement metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements that strengthen audience engagement and content effectiveness. Minimum Education and/or Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field and at least five of experience creating and managing digital content or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, and email marketing tools. Experience writing for digital audiences and multiple communication channels. Systems & Technology Requirements Experience with content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, social media management tools, analytics platforms, SEO/AEO/GEO tools, and AI‐powered content and productivity tools. Travel This position requires regular, out‐of‐state, overnight travel in support of member meetings and events throughout the year. Compensation $71,931- $90,000, commensurate with education and experience.
