About the role

Improv & Voice Actors, Paid AI Research Study (NJ) About HumanSignal Real-world data is the competitive edge in AI.HumanSignal is a human data partner for companies building AI models and products. Our customers ship better AI, faster, because we partner with their researchers from real-world data creation to annotation to delivery. We design and create datasets from scratch, recruit and manage the domain experts who evaluate model output, and run everything through our own platform, Label Studio, the open-source standard for data labeling and evaluation, used by over 1 million practitioners worldwide. We specialize in the operationally complex: real-world data collection, multimodal pipelines, and multi-step workflows. Advanced ML and AI teams use our enterprise platform to run their own data factories, and our services team to extend their reach where in-house capacity runs out. If you want to do work that materially shapes how the next generation of AI products gets built, we'd love to talk. Paid Improv Performers and Voice Actors for an AI Research Study, Up to $500 per Session Earn up to $500 for a four-hour session performing unscripted, improv-style scenes. HumanSignal is recruiting improv performers, voice actors, and live entertainers to take part in a paid research study. We record people doing everyday tasks and talking naturally so that researchers can study and improve how AI understands real human behavior. If you can hold a scene, think on your feet, and move and talk naturally without a script, you can do this work. Compensation and logistics

What you will do:

Perform unscripted scenes of everyday household activities, like cooking, tidying, and folding laundry, in a staged home environment.
Talk with a voice assistant as you work through each scene. Natural, spontaneous dialogue is the core of the job.
Bring the skills you already have. Improvisation, character work, and comfort performing without a script are exactly what we're looking for.
Who we are looking for
Age 18 or older, located in or near Hoboken, NJ. Performers across the NYC metro area are welcome to apply. Public transportation or mileage expenses may be covered for performers outside of New Jersey.
Improv training or performance experience at any level, including classes, student troupes, community theatre, open mics, voice work, or live entertainment. Aspiring and amateur performers are encouraged to apply.
Comfortable being recorded on camera and audio for a full session.
Reliable and on time for scheduled sessions.
We welcome performers of all backgrounds and experience levels. A wide range of voices, speech patterns, and physical presence makes the research more representative of the real world.
This is a research study

Every participant signs a plain-language research agreement before any recording. It states exactly how your recordings are used, and you can ask us anything about it before you commit. HumanSignal conducts research projects that record people doing everyday tasks in staged environments in order to develop and improve AI and machine learning technologies. We will not use your name, image, likeness, or voice to advertise, market, or promote any product or service without your separate written consent. Your recordings are not shared publicly, and they are not used to clone your face or voice or to create synthetic media of you.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
