About the role
- Performs daily boat upkeep, maintenance, and cleaning above and below deck during operating season (May-October).Provides narrative over public address system while underway.
- Assists with pre-season fitting-out and end of season lay-up.
- Assists with minor repairs, maintenance, and preservation of vessel throughout the year.
- Ensures that pumps, engine, batteries, and mooring lines are in good working order during lay-up period.
- Handles mooring lines.
- Implements and enforces boat and water safety procedures.
- Other Job Duties (Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor to limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.)Stores materials and paints.
- Assists with loading and debarking passengers, including wheelchair passengers when necessary.
- Uses fixed and portable fire fighting equipment if required.
- Uses and maintains a variety of life-saving equipment, including life raft and rings, personal flotation devices and flares.
- Assists with changing oil in main engine, if required, and checking fluid levels in engine and batteries.
- Assists with maintaining charter bookings log.
- Performs related work as required
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)Knowledge of--Small craft operation and seamanship.
- Basic marine engine operation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of local history and geography and experience in working with the public.
- Ability to--Handle small craft.
- Speak clearly and distinctly.
- Perform manual work.
- Accept commands, follow orders, and get along well with staff, public and volunteers.
- Deal effectively with the public.
- Zero to three months of experience on small craft or at sea.
- Licenses or Certificates:
- Completion of CPR Certification within four weeks of start date.
