Job Description
Overview:
The Material Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily material handling, inventory control, and MRO crib operations to ensure the efficient flow of materials, supplies, tools, and finishedgoods throughout the facility. This position provides leadership to Material Handlers, maintains inventory accuracy, supports production requirements, manages MRO inventory and tooling, andensures compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. The role works closely with Production, Maintenance, Purchasing, Shipping, Receiving, and Management to support operational objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills and Experience:
Leadership Team Coordination Lead, assign, prioritize, and support the daily activities of Material Handlers and inventory personnel. Train and coach team members on material handling, inventory control, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Communicate inventory, material availability, tooling, and operational issues to management and affected departments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production schedules and operational requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, inventory accuracy, material flow, and efficiency. Perform other duties as assigned. Material Handling, Inventory & MRO Control Coordinate the movement, storage, staging, and delivery of raw materials, production supplies, work-in-process materials, and finished goods. Ensure materials are properly identified, labeled, stored, and available to support production requirements. Load, unload, transport, and store materials using approved equipment while following FIFO inventory practices. Maintain accurate inventory records and transactions within ERP/MRP systems. Perform cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory reconciliations, and approved inventory adjustments. Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages, excess inventory, obsolete materials, and other supply concerns. Manage MRO crib operations, including inventory replenishment, organization, tool accountability, and issuance of supplies and equipment. Coordinate tool repairs and verify proper functionality before returning tools to service. Support shipping, receiving, packaging, and finished goods preparation activities. Equipment, Safety Compliance Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment. Conduct equipment inspections and report on maintenance, operational, or safety concerns. Coordinate scrap removal, recycling, and production of waste management activities. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, storage locations, and inventory spaces. Follow and promote all company safety, quality, environmental, and operational procedures. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, PPE requirements, and company policies. Identify unsafe conditions and participate in corrective and preventive actions. Support quality standards through proper material handling, inventory control, and documentation practices.
