Location: Washington, District of Columbia Hiring Path: Fed Internal Search Number of Openings:1 Security Clearance: Sensitive Compartmented Information The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.
Key Responsibilities: This position is located within the Containment Emergency Response Division (CERD), Operational Services Bureau (OSB). CERD provides specialized response capabilities for events that require heightened protective measures. As a CERD Technician, you will: Perform tactical operations to safeguard Members of Congress, employees, and visitors to the U.S. Capitol Grounds and facilities and to safeguard against damage, terrorist activity, and/or theft. Perform law enforcement and emergency response activities that require quick assessment of conditions and elements. Make determinations between established alternatives such as the kinds of action to take and the level of force to use. Provide tactical coverage during emergency situations. The selection list for this vacancy announcement will be active for a period of 12 months from the date of approval of the selection memorandum.
