About the role

The Urban Community Empowerment Project Inc. (UCEP) is a 501c3, non-profit organization that provides FREE empowerment services to people living in urban communities. Our aim is to encourage and motivate self-esteem and self-determination for people who are striving to get to the next level in their lives. We believe in the potential for personal growth and positive life change. UCEP empowerment services include support groups, workshops, mentoring and one to one life coaching. UCEP is seeking to recruit board members for the organization. These positions are non-salary, volunteer positions. If you are someone who would like to make a difference in your community and have a passion to help people, our organization may be the place for you. UCEP board members have the unique opportunity to develop community activities in service areas they are personally passionate about. The organization supports community initiatives that empower and motivate positive life change and achievement. The commitment is for at least 2 years and to attend one board meeting each month. Applicants should have a desire to affect change in your community by creating community partnerships and participating in events and activities in your community Administrative SecretaryResponsibilitiesAnswering and routing phone calls Processing correspondence, including letters, emails and memos Scheduling appointments and maintaining calendars for superiors Organizing and filing documents Preparing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes Managing office supplies and placing orders when necessary Assisting with the preparation of reports and presentations Maintaining and updating databases and tracking systems Facilitating communication between various departments and personnel Handling confidential information with discretion Providing excellent customer service, handling queries and complaints Conducting research as required Minimum Requirements and skillsProven work experience as an Administrative Secretary or similar role Proficiency in MS Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Good organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Knowledge of office management systems and procedures Bachelor of Science; additional qualification as an administrative assistant or Secretary will be a plus.
