About the role
Overview
As an Applications Engineer in Core Weave’s Data Infrastructure, you will own full-stack work on UNION and related production systems, bridging data and applications with a focus on AI-facing features. You’ll collaborate with engineering, finance, and operations to define what to build and ensure reliable, scalable delivery. You’ll work closely with end users to understand needs and own the product area end-to-end, from inquiry to production. This role offers a chance to shape how Core Weave plans and operates its infrastructure at scale and to contribute to AI-driven decisions across the company.

Responsibilities Build and own features in UNION from interface to data model and production Develop full-stack applications using Type Script, React, Next.js, and Python services Design and operate HTTP APIs with robust timeouts, retries, and write correctness Ship LLM-backed features and measure their correctness and impact Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine software requirements Investigate, address, and own incidents or breakdowns in production Prototype and define what to build in ambiguous processes with stakeholders Integrate applications with data platforms and analytical databases such as Spark, Kafka, Star Rocks, or Snowflake
Key requirements 5+ years of building and operating production software (backend + frontend)Strong Python and Type Script, with experience in React/Next.js or similar Experience designing and running HTTP APIs with reliability considerations Strong SQL and relational data modeling with live schemas Experience shipping AI-enabled features to production and evaluating their outputs Hands-on experience with containers and deployment tooling (Docker, Helm, Kubernetes)Experience wiring apps to data platforms and analytical databases (Spark, Kafka, Star Rocks, Snowflake)CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and on-call for owned software Experience collaborating with non-engineers on undefined problems and delivering adopted solutionsownership and accountabilityability to work with ambiguitystrong collaboration with non-engineers Python Type Script React/Next.js
