Role Description:
The Licensed Associate Counselor will provide individual and group counseling services to clients, conduct intake assessments, and develop person-centered treatment plans. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining accurate clinical documentation, collaborating with supervisors and colleagues on case consultations, and participating in regular clinical supervision and team meetings. The counselor will coordinate care with other providers as needed, follow ethical and legal standards for counseling practice, and contribute to a positive, inclusive environment for clients and staff. This is a full-time, on-site role located in South Amboy, NJ, requiring consistent presence at the office during scheduled hours.
Qualifications:
Active Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) credential in New Jersey and eligibility to practice under appropriate supervision.
Foundational counseling skills, including intake assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-informed interventions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
Ability to maintain thorough, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in electronic or paper-based systems.
Commitment to ethical practice, client confidentiality, and culturally responsive, non-discriminatory care.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and to receive and integrate supervision.
Organizational and time-management skills to manage a full caseload and meet documentation and reporting deadlines.
Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field from an accredited institution.
Experience in outpatient mental health, community counseling, or similar settings is preferred but not required.
Comfort working on-site in South Amboy, NJ and willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
