About the role
- Conduct thorough physical examinations to assess patient health and diagnose medical conditions
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments as appropriate
- Perform routine soft tissue surgeries—including spays, neuters, dentals, and minor surgical procedures —with precision and care
- Provide emergency care and critical interventions for ill or injured pets (critical patients are referred to local emergency clinics)
- Utilize accurate veterinary terminology when communicating with staff and pet owners
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date medical records and treatment documentation
- Educate pet owners on proper nutrition, preventive care, and general animal wellness
- Collaborate closely with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure smooth and efficient clinic operations
- Stay informed on the latest developments in veterinary medicine and pursue continuing education opportunities
- Skills We Value:
- Proficiency in safe and effective animal restraint techniques
- Strong foundation in veterinary science, including anatomy and physiology
- Familiarity with animal husbandry practices and preventive health care
- Solid understanding of aseptic surgical techniques
- Experience with basic in-house lab work and diagnostics
- Excellent communication skills to clearly and compassionately guide pet owners
- A licensed DVM (or eligible for NC licensure)
- Proficient in dentals and basic surgical procedures
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative setting
