About the role
Overview
As a data scientist/algorithm engineer at Ceribell, you will develop state-of-the-art classification algorithms for EEG-based neurodiagnostics in acute care. You will work within the data science team to translate biomedical signals into clinically relevant models, collaborating with clinical and business stakeholders. You’ll ensure models meet regulatory expectations through rigorous validation and documentation, while mentoring juniors and managing multiple projects. This role offers the chance to push the forefront of seizure-detection technology and impact critical care. You will join a mission-driven culture focused on rapid, data-driven advances in neurodiagnostics.
Compensation / Benefits 100% employer-paid health benefits for employees Equity opportunities 401(k) with generous company match Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) with a discount Monthly cell phone stipend Flexible paid time off
Responsibilities Design classification algorithms for neurological indications using time-series analysis and statistical signal processing Analyze data to identify trends and derive actionable insights with clear objectives Collaborate with clinical and business stakeholders to align on project needs and communicate results Select and implement evaluation metrics balancing technical accuracy with clinical relevance Document, validate, and analyze models to satisfy medical device regulatory requirements Mentor junior data scientists and interns, providing direction and feedback Manage multiple projects independently, prioritizing tasks to meet milestones Stay current with ML and neurodiagnostics advances to keep algorithms state-of-the-art
Key requirements PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or equivalent disciplines 7+ years of experience in signal processing, time-series analysis, pattern recognition, and machine learning Proficient in Python and/or Matlab and/or RExperience with biomedical signal processing and algorithm development for biomedical applications Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative mindset Experience with large-scale datasets, preprocessing, cleaning, and handling noisy/imbalanced data in biomedicine Proven ability to work independently and manage complex technical projects from concept to deployment Experience with deep learning architectures (CNNs, RNNs) for time-series data Strong preference for experience in neurodiagnostics or EEG data processingcollaborativeanalyticaldetail-orientedtime-series analysisstatistical signal processingmachine learning
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
