Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Back Office Ophthalmic Technician to support our physicians in delivering high-quality patient care. The technician works up patients, performs diagnostic testing, and keeps clinic flow running smoothly so providers can focus on care.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Room patients and take accurate histories, including chief complaint, medications, allergies, and ocular/medical history
  • Perform visual acuity, refraction/manifest refraction, pupil exams, confrontation visual fields, and IOP measurement (tonometry)
  • Administer dilating drops and other ophthalmic medications as directed by the physician
  • Perform diagnostic testing such as OCT, visual fields (Humphrey), fundus photography, A-scan/biometry, topography, and pachymetry
  • Scribe and document accurately in the EHR during patient encounters
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain, clean, and calibrate ophthalmic equipment
  • Assist with in-office procedures and minor surgical prep as needed
  • Educate patients on testing, procedures, and post-visit instructions
  • Maintain patient flow and communicate effectively with front office and physicians
  • Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards
