Higher Education Sales Consultant Location: Austin-San Antonio, Texas Territory Job Type: Full-time | Territory-based, home office and campus travel Salary: • $70,000 base salary plus annual performance bonus • Typical first-year bonus of $10,000-$15,000, with additional earning potential • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Company-paid life and disability coverage • 401(k) match and profit sharing • 15 days of PTO plus paid holidays • Tuition reimbursement and paid business travel expenses Job Summary: Our client, an established educational publishing company, is seeking a Higher Education Sales Consultant to develop and grow a territory covering Austin, San Antonio, San Marcos, and surrounding areas. This consultative sales role focuses on building relationships with college professors, identifying classroom needs, and developing new publishing partnerships. The position combines home-office work, virtual meetings, and in-person campus visits, including approximately six to seven weeks of travel per semester. Job Responsibilities: • Develop and grow an assigned Central Texas sales territory. • Visit colleges and universities to meet with professors and prospective authors. • Conduct consultative conversations to identify classroom challenges and educational needs. • Generate new appointments through cold calling, LinkedIn, personalized emails, referrals, and direct campus outreach. • Present customized publishing solutions virtually and in person. • Guide prospective authors through the initial partnership and onboarding process. • Maintain relationships with existing customers and support active projects. • Manage territory planning, travel, follow-up, account growth, and administrative responsibilities. • Collaborate with internal sales, development, and support teams. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required. • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required. • Must live in or near the Austin or San Antonio area. • Ability to travel approximately six to seven weeks per semester. • Willingness to cold call, prospect in person, and independently generate appointments. • Strong written, verbal, virtual, and face-to-face communication skills. • Self-motivated, persistent, adaptable, and comfortable working independently. • Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills. • 2-3+ years of sales, business development, account management, or related customer-facing experience preferred.
