Sierra Pacific Industries District Forester Ryderwood Forestry District Centralia, WAOur Forestry Division, Ryderwood District, has an opening for a qualified District Forester to help manage the Company's timberlands in Lewis, Pacific, Thurston, and Cowlitz counties. The successful applicant will work outof our district office located in Centralia, Washington.
ABOUT THE POSITION: • Manage and implement all aspects of a silviculture program including reforestation, vegetation management, andtree improvement Collaborate in the development of silvicultural budgets and forecasts Assist with the timber harvest program, including performing harvest unit layout and permitting, administeringroad building and logging contracts, and ensure log quality control Professionally and effectively interact with interact with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups Maintain essential documentation and critical databases related to reforestation activities Effectively work both within a team setting as well as independently in remote areas Perform forestry-related projects in a wide range of weather and field conditions using maps, compass, or GPSAssist and collaborate in other forestry work on the district as neededQUALIFICATIONS3 years' experience in silviculture in the Pacific Northwest Bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resources, or related field, or equivalent recent, relevant work experience Understanding of silvicultural practices and cost considerations Work experience with Washington forest practice rules Valid Washington driver's license or the ability to obtain a valid Washington driver's license Demonstrated ability to drive hazardous mountain roads Skilled with Word, Outlook, Excel, and ArcGIS software Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated, and a strong work ethicWHY JOIN OUR TEAMBecause this is more than an invitation, it's a commitment to offer opportunities for personal and professional growthto everyone!
