Videography Intern in Novato
la 411Novato (CA)
About the role
This is a Contracted position in the field of Live Broadcast / Sports / TV News / Technical Operations, located in Novato, CA.
I run Zander Media (http://zandermedia.com/), an advisory and video production company. We work with clients across the San Francisco Bay Area and nationally. I'm hiring an up-and-coming videographer to help with a personal project filmed in my home studio in Novato.
The Work We're creating personal content with me on camera. The project is a series of scripted video essays about adoption stories — the hidden histories of how a product or idea spread. You'll get real reps on professional cinema gear in a working studio. You'll help set the aesthetic of the show, using our array of lighting to build the set, and operate cameras during filming. A typical shoot runs 1 hour per day for 5 days, and we'll film 1-2 projects per month. (You can expect 10-15 hours/per month.)You don't need to walk in as an expert on our gear, but you should be comfortable around cameras, lights. Curiosity and a good attitude matter more than your résumé.
The Gear You'll work on the full Zander Media suite of cameras and gear: Cameras and lens: Sony FX9 and FX3, Sony a 7III, Sony 70-200 f 4, Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS, Sigma 30mm f 1.4 Lighting: Kino Flo Diva, Aperture with Softbox, and a range of LED tubes. Who This Is For This role suits a college student or someone just starting to break into video work. If you're building a reel, learning your craft, and looking for hands-on time in a professional setting, this is a great place to start. Our client work is with large companies. For now, this is personal content but there's opportunity to join our client shoots down the road.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
