General Manager

Gemma is an intimate, 50-seat upscale neighborhood bistro in Dallas known for warm hospitality, thoughtful food and wine, and consistently high standards. Gemma has been awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition for the past two years and was a James Beard Award finalist for Outstanding Hospitality. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager / Sommelier to lead our front-of-house team and oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. Because Gemma is a small restaurant, this is a very hands-on position. We are looking for someone who enjoys being on the floor, working alongside the team, interacting with guests, and setting the standard for service every night. RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead and oversee daily front-of-house operations and service • Maintain consistently high standards of service and hospitality • Be present and hands-on on the restaurant floor during service • Hire, train, develop, and manage the front-of-house team • Delegate responsibilities and hold staff accountable to established standards • Lead pre-shift meetings and provide ongoing service and wine education • Build relationships with guests and handle guest needs professionally • Train staff on wine knowledge and wine sales • Assist guests with wine selections and actively drive wine sales • Work closely with the owners to maintain their vision and standards for Gemma • Help create a positive, professional, and accountable restaurant culture We are looking for a hospitality-driven leader who takes pride in being on the floor, developing a great team, building relationships with guests, and maintaining the high standards that have made Gemma a special neighborhood restaurant.
