About the role
Manufacturing Operations Manager | Zeeland, MIOur client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead a major portion of production operations at a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility in Zeeland, Michigan. This is a highly visible plant leadership opportunity overseeing approximately 60 employees across three shifts, including three Production Supervisors, Team Leads, and Operators.
What You'll Do:
- Lead daily manufacturing operations across a high-volume production environment
- Lead, coach, and develop three Production Supervisors
- Drive safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity performance
- Support new product launches, process changes, and manufacturing initiatives
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Product Development
- Develop short- and long-term operational strategies
- Identify capital, equipment, and process improvement opportunities
- Champion Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, waste reduction, and cost reduction
- Monitor operational and financial performance and implement corrective actions
- Build a strong leadership pipeline through coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Maintain a strong presence on the plant floor and work closely with frontline leadership
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree required 10+ years of automotive manufacturing experience 5+ years of progressive manufacturing or operations leadership
- Experience leading high-volume assembly operations
- Experience with new product launches or new product introductions
- Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience
- Experience with capital planning and manufacturing process improvements
- Strong understanding of the financial impact of manufacturing decisions
