About the role

The purpose of this position is to lead a team to design, troubleshoot, and optimize the City’s software programs andproducts, by monitoring applications, resolving issues, and analyzing and implementing applicable trends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversees the administration, support, enhancement, integration, and continued development of the City’s Workday Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment and related business system. Applies knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging and designing software applications and operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Builds enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggests improvements to the architecture. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet specifications. Manages a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc. Supervises personnel by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring adequate staff training, compliance with operation standards and adherence to policies and procedures, maintaining a safe work environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Supplemental Functions: Performs other similar duties and projects as required. Job Specifications and Qualifications: Knowledge: Advanced programming Software design, debugging, documentation & testing Software development fundamentals Department and City policies & procedures. Licensing and Certifications: Valid North Carolina Driver’s License. Oracle MySQL Certified preferred GIS Certification preferred
