Role Description:
The Neurological Exercise Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Deerfield, IL. This role involves designing and implementing individualized and group exercise programs for clients with neurological and other complex medical conditions, focusing on safety, functional improvement, and overall quality of life. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing client abilities, developing evidence-based exercise prescriptions, leading strength and conditioning sessions, monitoring client progress, and adjusting programs as needed. The specialist will collaborate with healthcare providers, therapists, and caregivers to ensure coordinated care, while maintaining thorough documentation and contributing to a positive, supportive studio environment. The role also includes educating clients and families on exercise principles, promoting adherence to programs, and participating in team meetings and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability in personal exercise prescription and group exercise programming and instruction for diverse ability levels. Knowledge of exercise physiology and exercise prescription, particularly for neurological and complex medical populations. Physical therapy experience Experience with strength training techniques, functional exercise progressions, and safe movement modification. Understanding of rehabilitation concepts and risk management within clinical or medically oriented fitness settings. Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy Assistant, or related field (or equivalent experience).Relevant certification (e.g., ACSM, NSCA, ACE, NASM), with specialized or neuro-focused credentials considered an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and support clients and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. Ability to perform physical job duties, including demonstrating exercises, assisting clients with mobility, and maintaining a safe training environment. Prior experience working with neurological conditions (e.g., Parkinson’s, MS, stroke, TBI) is highly beneficial.
